Little Elms New Build SEE THE LATEST PLANS CLICK HERE

Little Elms is a fabulous facility for the children of Elmswell, but its popularity has long-since outgrown the portakabin from which it operates in the grounds of the village’s primary school.

The pre-school runs from a large room with a small kitchen and a corner for an office and precious storage space. Efforts have been made within the last year to improve the existing building by redecoration and refurbishment. The garden and play area has been extensively overhauled over the past 12 months. However, there is only so much that can be done when demand is far out-weighing the available space.

The present building can only cater for 15 children per session. Children are encouraged in all aspects of play and creativity but there are some restrictions and the waiting list is growing ever longer.

The management committee and staff of Little Elms have identified a clear need for a new building in order to meet the needs of a growing village population. To achieve this objective a 25-year lease on a piece of land adjacent to the school grounds has been secured and the proposed building would provide enough space for 24 children.

At present the committee have commissioned a design and have a preliminary layout for the new setting. The development has been budgeted at £195,000.00.
However, over the last year there has been a reappraisal of the development and greater consideration is being given to a more natural design which would benefit the education of Elmswell children for a more environmentally aware future.

We are currently appraising design and looking at alternative locations and layouts and even considering the options of a pre-fabricated building.

The new build will be designed to provide a pre-school worthy of the hard working staff and children who attend this important village amenity.
